ACE Group has appointed Emma Bartolo as UK and Ireland environmental risk manager as it continues to invest in building its capabilities in this emerging specialist insurance line.

In her new role, Bartolo will be responsible for the overall management of ACE’s growing environmental liability book in the UK and Ireland and will lead the continued development of the company’s capabilities and product offering in this market.

Bartolo has almost a decade of experience in the environmental sector and joined ACE in 2008 as an environmental risk underwriter. Previously, she was an environmental consultant for WSP Environment and Energy.

Bartolo takes up her new position with immediate effect and reports to the firm’s regional president UK and Ireland David Robinson, and senior vice-president environmental risk Karl Russek. She will continue to be based in London.

Robinson said: “Environmental exposures and the liabilities they create for businesses have become increasingly complex and today they impact many industries in the UK and Ireland more frequently, and to a greater degree. The strengthening of the ACE team is a demonstration of our commitment to offering unmatched expertise and developing pragmatic and robust liability programmes for this evolving sector. It is also extremely pleasing to be able to promote talent from within ACE.”
