The current UK system of employers' liability compulsory insurance (ELCI) does not provide the employer with value for money, and does not meet the needs of employees in securing timely compensation. These were two of the key findings in a survey conducted by insurance brokers and consultants Aon as part of their submission to the Department for Work & Pensions' review of ELCI.

The survey also found that the majority of employers wanted the Government to consider the introduction of a no fault system to control high legal costs. Nearly half (49%) of those surveyed did not believe that the current ELCI system encouraged employers to implement effective health and safety practices.
