Security consultant and television commentator Peter Power said the government was doing too little to prepare the country for a major security incident

Power said the whole doctrine of how you deal with the terrorist threat had changed. Many official contingency measures - such as the plan to evacuate the centre of London - had not been adequately thought through.

Within commercial organisations, Power said, there is a trend towards uniting security, risk management and business continuity under the umbrella of corporate resilience. He said, however, that more needs to be done to integrate these disciplines. "Corporate resilience is embedded within duty of care and should be driven by the board."
