36 economic, environmental, geopolitical, societal and technological risks mapped

Zurich mapped this view of the global risk landscape.

The chart depicts 36 risks in total. They are color-coded according to their expected riskiness, which in this case is defined as severity multiplied by likelihood.

The catalog of risks is very large. Zurich looks at five broad risk categories, and each one of them comprises a number of sub-risks.

According to Zurich: “Typically, country risk analysis is limited to economic variables. At times geopolitical risks are thrown in, but rarely does the analysis extend to environmental, societal or technological risks.”
