XL Catlin has appointed Joe Blenkinsopp (pictured) as chief underwriting officer for its political risk and trade credit team (PRTC).

Blenkinsopp, formerly deputy global head of the PRTC team, will now be responsible for managing a team of political risk and trade credit underwriters globally and will report to Neil Robertson, XL Catlin’s chief executive of Global Specialty.

“I am delighted that Joe has assumed the role of global head of PRTC,” Robertson said. “Joe joined XL, now XL Catlin, when we set up the PRTC team in 2011.

“With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and having previously held senior leadership and management positions in global underwriting and broking firms, Joe is well positioned to lead our PRTC team into the future for the newly formed XL Catlin.”

Blenkinsopp assumes the role from Richard Maxwell who will be leaving the company following four years of service. Mr. Robertson commented: “I want to thank Richard for his contributions to building a globally recognized and respected team and wish him all the best in the future.”
