Named as new country manager for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty

Phillip Gronemeyer has been named the new country manager for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) in Russia.

He succeeds Willy Schaugg, who recently joined the Global Broker Management Team of the Allianz Group as a global account director.

AGCS underwrites industrial insurance business in Russia through reinsurance of Allianz Russia, with a specialist AGCS team established in Moscow in April 2012 to lead this business for Allianz Group.

“We are excited to have Phillip Gronemeyer leading our business in Russia,” said chief executive Nordic Region and Central Eastern Europe Stig Jensen. “He knows the insurance business from the ground up and has a deep understanding of market conditions in fast growing economies as a result of his many international assignments.”

Gronemeyer joined the Allianz Group in 2004 and has gained extensive international experience in industrial insurance since then. Trained as an economist through study at universities in the US and Spain, he began his Allianz career as a member of a trainee program in Australia.

“All signs are pointing to growth in the Russian industrial insurance market,” Gronemeyer said. “We intend to expand our market share significantly.”
