The future Belgian presidency of the European Union, jointly with the Commission, is organising a conference on the place of corporate social responsibility on the social policy agenda. It will deal with the respective roles of companies, employees, consumers, and investors vis-à-vis the development of corporate social responsibility. Themes for debate include:
- integrating social concerns into the corporate development strategy - mobilising new skills; lending credibility to codes of conduct; promoting corporate social responsibility in SMEs
- providing workers with new opportunities - meeting workers' expectations; improving transparency on socially responsible practices
- supporting responsible consumption - informing consumers; integrating social and ethical clauses in public procurement
- promoting socially responsible investing
The conference will be held on November 27-28 at the Palais des Congrès, Brussels.
