Audit and compliance professionals feel they do not have the influence to manage risk properly

More than one in eight risk managers believe that they are ignored by their employer, according to new data.

Whitehead Mann, the headhunter, spoke to around 50 FTSE 100 audit and compliance professionals and found that half of them did not believe that they had sufficient influence to manage risk properly.

One third said that they were only ‘quite influential’, while 13 %, more than one in eight, said that they were not influential at all.

Nearly 80%, however, believed the economic downturn had led to a reassessment of the importance of risk management.

About two thirds of respondents said that their company had a risk committee, but a quarter said that this had not enabled them to be more effective in their job.
