Sarah Poon of Croydon Council has won the Best Student Award for 2008, said the Institute of Risk Management (IRM).

She won the award for her International Diploma in Risk Management.

The prize – which is one week’s, all expenses paid, work experience in Dubai, sponsored by Business Resilience Europe – was awarded at the IRM’s annual Risk Forum on Tuesday evening.

To compete for the award, the six students who achieved the highest marks in the examination for the Diploma were given one week to produce a 1,000 word submission on risk issues for the Gulf economies.

IRM Chief Executive Officer Steve Fowler said: ‘We were very pleased with the standard of entries across the board, as this award goes from strength to strength.’
