- 93% would like the practice of contingent commissions banned altogether, or subject to investigation by the FSA, with 64% saying the practice always creates a conflict of interest

- only 54% of risk managers are satisfied with the level of disclosure they currently receive

- 49% will consider changing their broker in light of the Spitzer allegations, and 66% will require greater disclosure of information from their brokers when they renew their policies

- 37% would prefer to deal with insurers directly, without the intervention of a broker.

AIRMIC chairman Andrew Cornish, who chaired the discussion, said, "There has been some progress since AIRMIC first raised the issue of broker remuneration six years ago, but the system remains fundamentally flawed."
