All rides are operating but incident raises concern over fire saftey on movie sets
Universal Studios in Hollywood is back open for business after a weekend fire that destroyed the King Kong attraction, a number of film and music recordings and one area of film sets.
The fire ripped through Universal Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 1, causing it to close and lose a full days revenue.
Universal said all of its rides, shows and attractions on the site are now open and operating normally.
Universal Studios Hollywood's parent company, NBC Universal, put on a brave face and announced its determination to rebuild and replace the film sets that were lost in the fire. But reports claimed the Universal fire could cost corporate parent General Electric Co. tens of millions of dollars.
The incident raised questions about fire safety in movie studios.
