German risk and insurance association cites the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic; will host virtual lectures and discussions instead

Due to the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s GVNW symposium cannot take place in its usual form and is cancelled, the German risk and insurance management association has confirmed.

The GVNW symposium in autumn is one of the most important industrial insurance congress in the German-speaking region and a central event for meeting with market partners and colleagues every year, exchanging ideas and obtaining technical information.

However, according to the current assessment of the COVID threat the event is unable to be held in September due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic.

For this reason, the board and management of the GVNW have announced their decision to cancel the GVNW Symposium 2020, which was planned for the period from September 2 to 4, 2020.

”Everyone involved in the decision really regrets this cancellation. However, the members of the association as well as the sponsors and exhibitors with whom the company had been able to speak in the last few days agreed: The health of the participants comes first and better not a symposium than an event in a changed format,” said GVNW in a statement.

During the cancelled symposium in September, the GVNW plans to offer virtual lectures and discussions on current topics free of charge. Details will be made available at a later date.

GVNW has also announced that next year’s GVNW Symposium 2021 is planned for September 8-10, 2021 in Munich.
