AIRMIC has told the British Standards Institution (BSI) that it has some reservations about the structure of the draft new British risk management standard 31100. BSI has been conducting consultation on the draft, which it wants to publish as a standard in February or March 2008.

The International Standards Organization (ISO) is also preparing a risk management standard on which AIRMIC will comment later this year. The ISO standard more closely follows AIRMIC's own risk management standard, which was published in 2002 and has now been translated into 15 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and several European languages. This standard is available free from the AIRMIC website and from other risk management organisations. It has been downloaded more than 30,000 times from the AIRMIC site alone.
