Socrates Coudounaris will step up from deputy chair at the IRM from May 2018

The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) has announced its next chairman of the board.

Socrates Coudounaris will take the chairman role from May at the professional body for risk managers.

Currently the IRM’s deputy chairman, Coudounaris is also executive director of risk for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Reinsurance Group of America.

The IRM’s current chair, Nicola Crawford, steps down in early May 2018, the industry body said.

The IRM said Crawford is stepping down to pursue business opportunities, praising her for having “devoted a considerable amount of her professional time to the Institute with a positive impact”.

Crawford said: “It is with significant regret that I am stepping down as the IRM Chair; I have enjoyed the role and will continue to remain involved with the IRM supporting various initiatives, as well as being an advisory member of the ERM in Banking and Financial Services SIG and the IRM Turkey Regional Group”.
